Fish Passage
Recently Kelley Covey has been involved in the design and management of “The Fish for the Future: Reconnecting the Northern Basin” Project undertaken by the Water Infrastructer NSW agency within The Department of planning, industry and Environment – Water.
The project has involved the investigation of 2 choke points in the McIntyre river and the environmental sustainability of the marshlands at Oxley Break. Our works included the survey and flood modelling of each catchment to determine how often the choke point allowed for a fish passage, we then proceeded to provide options to improve fish passage in the river to provide a more environmentally sustainable waterway. The works also included the provision of tender documents for the optimal solution.
The investigation also included the geomorphology of the sites. Geomorphology is the study of the physical features of the earth at the site and its relation to its geological structures. This work allowed us to provide detailed designs that would provide results that would provide a solution for all flood conditions.
