Sophisticated Structural Engineering
Our structural team provides engineering design documentation, investigation, construction phase, project management and analysis services for clients across Australia on projects of every size and level of complexity.
We constantly challenge ourselves to find new ways to design and deliver projects faster, more efficiently and more cost-effectively than ever before.
Our highly-skilled professionals combine experience with sophisticated technological tools to enhance the creative process, promote effective collaboration, improve coordination and enhance visualisation and communication throughout planning, design and construction.
We have expertise in new generation Building Information Modelling (BIM) using the REVIT structure platform. BIM helps streamline design, offering structure visualisation before construction. Coupled with the latest 3D analytical and design software, this documentation philosophy ensures every detail is considered, leading to efficient and effective designs, irrespective of complexity.

Calrossy Anglican School
Calrossy Anglican School, Tamworth
Over the past 12 months Kelley Covey has been working closely with Calrossy Anglican School (CAS) and GHD towards the construction of the new Multi-Use Classroom Building – Stage 2 (MUC2) which is comprised of a two-storey classroom block and a partial two-storey auditorium building capable of seating up to 350 spectators.
“MUC2” is a twin to the initial stage of the multi-use classroom project and extends the capabilities of CAS with a further 5 general purpose learning areas, 5 music tutor rooms, 2 music classrooms, 3 ILC classrooms and multiple staffrooms, amenities and accessible.
The ongoing construction has reached major milestones this year as the precast panels weighing up to 15 tonne have formed the external walls to the auditorium. The building structure is nearing competition.
Kelley Covey Group has provided the structural services for the concrete footings, concrete slabs, steel portal frames/beams and tilt panels, along with civil and stormwater engineering.
Metroll
Metrol
Kelley Covey was commissioned to undertake the structural design for the new Metroll warehouse in Tamworth. Spanning an impressive 72 meters in length and 55 meters in width, this facility was designed to house modern roll forms for the production of various building materials including flashings, rainwater tanks, roof cladding, roof battens, C and Z purlins, and roller doors.
In addition to its expansive dimensions, the warehouse boasted three independent gantry cranes strategically positioned to facilitate efficient loading and unloading operations of coils and trucks. The incorporation of numerous garage doors along the building’s length posed a unique challenge in bracing design, which our team adeptly addressed.
Given the site’s soft river silts, extensive foundation work was essential. Our solution involved the construction of 9-meter deep bored piers reaching down to a thick gravel layer, ensuring the stability and durability of the structure.
Standing at 10 meters to the eaves and 13 meters to the ridge, the warehouse provided ample space for manufacturing operations while accommodating a 400 square meter office space for administrative functions. This project showcases Kelley Covey’s expertise in designing robust structures tailored to the specific needs of industrial clients.
Eastpoint Medical Centre
Eastpoint Medical Centre
Kelley Covey was entrusted with planning reports, structural, civil, and hydraulic engineering aspects for the East Tamworth Medical Centre project.
This dynamic facility encompasses a three-story structure housing essential services such as a pharmacy, medical centre, café, various allied health tenancies, and a childcare centre, spanning an impressive area of 1,670 square meters. Despite site constraints notably a 4-meter cut on the western boundary that contained existing buildings, our team adeptly managed the project’s complexities.
To mitigate stormwater issues and prevent downstream flooding, an underground detention tank was meticulously integrated into the site design. The building’s structural framework relied on innovative concrete tilt panels, ensuring both durability and aesthetic appeal. Furthermore, our engineers navigated the presence of the council’s trunk drainage system on-site while prioritizing accessibility, particularly for individuals with disabilities, and minimizing cut and fill operations.
Today, the East Tamworth Medical Centre stands as a beacon of healthcare excellence, accommodating vital services such as medical imaging, dental care, accounting, community support, and mental health facilities. Its visually striking façade serves as a hallmark of architectural distinction, enriching the local streetscape and leaving a lasting impression on the community.
